Antiperspirant Effect About 1-2% of people in Germany suffer from excessive sweat production. Those affected usually sweat without a direct trigger, unpredictably, and more than necessary for regulating the body's temperature. The sweat outbreaks usually occur locally, such as in the armpits, on the soles of the feet, or in the intimate area, less often over the whole body. How Antiperspirants Work Against Excessive Sweating Sweat alone is almost odorless. The main cause of sweat odor is secretions from bacteria that live on the skin and break down the sweat there. Antiperspirants are used to constrict the sweat gland openings and therefore have an astringent function. Sweat production is interrupted and the skin remains dry. In addition, this process deprives the odor-causing bacteria of their food, thus reducing the production of unpleasant-smelling secretions. The Odaban effect is produced by the astringency, i.e., the "constricting" effect, of the active ingredient aluminum chloride. This binds overnight with the protein on the skin surface to form an insoluble and inactive complex that partially blocks the openings of the sweat ducts like a plug. The treated skin area can be washed the next morning without losing the Odaban protection, which remains effective for several days. The formed aluminum-protein complex is so insoluble that absolutely no absorption of aluminum into the body system occurs. Therefore, Odaban is completely safe even with long-term use. The effectiveness of the Odaban antiperspirant has been convincing for over 30 years. In addition to aluminum chloride in dissolved form, Odaban spray also contains skin-caring ingredients. This not only effectively regulates and reduces sweating but also prevents skin irritation. For this reason, Odaban is recommended by numerous German dermatology clinics and dermatologists worldwide. All products in the Odaban family are suitable for every skin type and particularly easy to apply. The antiperspirant effect of Odaban spray has also been tested and proven by a dermatological institute. In this study, 20 subjects, all suffering from excessive sweat production, treated one armpit with Odaban antiperspirant once daily in the evening for 3 days. The other armpit remained untreated during the test and served as a control. To increase sweat secretion, the subjects had to sit in a sauna and additionally drink linden blossom tea. After just three days of use, the subjects showed a reduction in sweat volume of up to 90%, with the average sweat reduction being about 71%. The excellent effect of the antiperspirant was thus immediately confirmed.
