Sweating on the face: Goodbye sweat beads!
The forehead shines, the hairline is wet, and the nose is covered with small beads of sweat. A completely normal phenomenon when a heatwave sweeps over Germany again or after a really intense workout in a fitness class. However, for some people, it means pure horror. Because they don’t just sweat like most people during intense physical activity, heavy exertion, or extreme temperatures. On the contrary: even small everyday challenges, minimal nervousness, or a slightly elevated room temperature can be enough to trigger their sweat production and make them sweat heavily. Sometimes, even the thought of a potentially unpleasant matter is enough to make them start sweating. Many affected individuals feel ashamed and increasingly withdraw into their own four walls. They avoid contact with other people, neglect good friends, and prefer to be alone. Social withdrawal is, for them, the seemingly only way to avoid feeling ashamed and to hide their sweating. The worst is sweating on the face Anyone who sweats a lot or heavily knows the problem: everything revolves around the question of how to best conceal the annoying sweat stains. What should I wear? Which colors are best? Did I also bring an emergency handkerchief in case a heatwave hits me? Is the change of shirt ready at hand? Most unpleasant for those affected is usually sweating on the face. Various areas can be affected, e.g., nose, upper lip, cheeks, forehead, hairline, or even the scalp. A real problem often arises when sweat gets into the eyes, causing constant irritation. However, the psychological effects should not be underestimated: unlike other body parts, sweating on the face is hardly concealable and thus causes enormous psychological distress for those affected. The fact that the large and small beads of sweat are obvious and easily visible to others triggers a huge feeling of shame. At the same time, those affected usually experience a distressing feeling of helplessness because they know that the wet droplets on the forehead or face, unlike other body parts such as the armpits, are hardly hideable: even frequent dabbing only results in a temporary reduction. In addition, the overwhelming feeling of shame can even increase sweating. As soon as those affected notice they are starting to sweat, they feel uncomfortable, become nervous, and experience stress. As a result, the body releases more stress hormones, the body temperature rises, and with it the sweat production. A real vicious circle with negative consequences for mental well-being as well. Reliable protection through antiperspirants A reliable and discreet way to get unpleasant facial sweating under control is the use of an antiperspirant, such as Odaban Gel or spray. What is special about the Odaban antiperspirant is its unique active ingredient combination, which allows those affected to apply the spray even on the face and scalp. Simply spray the product onto a cotton pad and dab the affected areas. After just a few applications, it significantly reduces sweat production and thus provides a completely new quality of life for those affected. The constant thoughts about clothing choices finally belong to the past, as does the distressing feeling of shame and the associated avoidance of direct contact with other people.
Learn moreSweating despite the cold
There are quite a few people who start sweating quickly even at subzero temperatures. You would actually be happy that the summer temperatures ease off a bit and you no longer have to pay as much attention to the issue of "your own sweat" as you did at a summery 25 degrees Celsius, yet the sweating continues unabated. A vicious circle that is sometimes difficult to break. Sweating is influenced by various factors. Thermoregulation through sweating kicks in whenever the body needs cooling to protect itself from overheating. The so-called evaporative heat generated by sweating provides the body with the necessary body temperature, and the cooling effect begins. With a few simple tricks, you can still significantly reduce sweating in winter. What to do if you sweat excessively despite the cold season As soon as you step outside through the front door or apartment door, it can be icy cold. Nevertheless, it is quite possible that the body starts sweating very quickly despite the low temperatures. Those affected sweat heavily and independently of natural causes such as warmth, stress, or physical exertion. Sweating in winter or in the cold is basically nothing unusual and in very few cases is caused by illness. Often it is simply due to unsuitable clothing that we prefer to wear in winter. Ideally, it should be warm and wind- and waterproof. The problem with choosing clothing in the colder season, however, is that it can also cause heat buildup. The body is then only poorly able to evaporate heat as usual. With non-breathable winter clothing, the body feels overheated even in supposedly protected areas despite the cold outside temperatures, so cooling through sweating is stimulated. What you can do in winter to counteract sweating is outlined below: Basically, you should pay attention to, removing your winter clothing as quickly as possible when you come back inside from the cold so that the body can adjust to the temperature difference as quickly as possible. Therefore, you should ensure adequate ventilation quickly. Furthermore, it is advisable to make sure that clothing for the cold season is made of textiles that are also breathable if possible. The skin can then breathe optimally and moisture is quickly transported away from the skin, allowing optimal regulation of body temperature. For particularly low temperatures, garments made of wool are suitable, for example. Alcohol and nicotine are not only harmful to health, they also stimulate the body and thus contribute to sweating more quickly. Therefore, consumption should be kept to a minimum. A healthy diet can also help counteract or even prevent unpleasant sweating episodes. This applies not only to the summer months. Those who generally sweat quickly should avoid spicy and/or heavily seasoned food as much as possible. Light fare such as fruits and vegetables is recommended instead. Another proven remedy against excessive sweating for many people, combined with a healthy diet, is losing weight. Overweight almost always demands significantly higher energy reserves from the body than is the case, for example, with people of "normal weight." So if you have too much weight, you should try to bring it back to a normal range. Then the annoying sweat attacks will also decrease. It is also very important to drink enough fluids – ideally at least 2 liters per day. You do not sweat more or faster because you drink more; the opposite is actually true. Of course, when choosing drinks, you should make sure not to consume only sugary water. Mineral water and fruit juices without sugar are ideal. An antiperspirant like Odaban Spray also works very well and very quickly. Usually, sweat flow is effectively regulated after one to three applications and it is not without reason that many dermatologists worldwide recommend it as a remedy against excessive sweating. Sauna visits also help your body get used to higher temperatures and thus better control the activity of the sweat glands. The sudden temperature fluctuations strongly stimulate and challenge the body's heat regulation. At the same time, regular sauna sessions make a very important contribution to strengthening the immune system and have a positive effect on other illnesses or everyday complaints.
Learn moreSweat-inducing spring feelings? No, thank you!
It is the same phenomenon every year. The first rays of sunshine appear, temperatures rise, and slowly but surely life returns to the landscape. But while some rejoice at the long-awaited arrival of spring, for others an unrelenting period of discomfort begins. Because with rising temperatures, they primarily associate one thing: heavy sweating, annoying sweat stains under the arms, and the ever-present fear of strange looks from those around them. No sign of the often-mentioned spring feelings! But what to do? Rising temperatures make the cash registers ring Those who do not want to be surprised by unpleasant sweat stains take precautions and stock up on plenty of deodorants even before spring begins. And indeed, sales figures show: as soon as spring knocks on the door, the demand for deodorants and antiperspirants also rises. This is more than understandable given the taboo topic of sweating, because heavy sweating can actually become a real mood killer – not only on a first date but also at a nice barbecue evening with friends. Both conventional deodorants and antiperspirants are particularly popular among remedies against heavy sweating. The decisive factor when choosing a product is always the intensity of perspiration, because only an antiperspirant can actually regulate sweat production. So anyone who finally wants to fight annoying sweating should definitely use an antiperspirant. Finally enjoy the sunshine again Used once or twice a week, the antiperspirant helps reduce sweat production and ensures that annoying sweat stains do not even form. That makes spring much more fun! Without the constant fear of sweating, it is much more relaxing to sit in the sun, and you can finally enjoy the first rays of sunshine to the fullest again. Those affected by heavy sweating know how profound the consequences can be in everyday life and leisure activities. They prefer to stay in the cool home, turn on the TV, or read a good book rather than take a walk through the fields or enjoy the first ice cream. And that already at the first rays of sunshine. While others only look for a pleasantly shady spot in midsummer, they avoid the sun out of fear of possible sweating already at the beginning of the year. It is clear that this can really spoil the mood in the long run. Often, those affected also struggle with psychological problems and withdraw from their social environment. They miss the time outdoors, contact with other people, and feel increasingly restricted in their daily lives. While some actively search for a solution to their sweating problem for this very reason, the majority of those affected only realize afterward how much sweating has actually impaired their private and professional lives. They only notice much later how much joy of life they have lost due to the constant fear of sweating. But they all have one thing in common: the knowledge that they have finally got sweating under control and defeated the fear of sweat stains allows them to enjoy every spring twice as much.
Learn moreSkin compatibility
Antiperspirant Skin Compatibility An antiperspirant should always be applied in the evening to prevent possible skin irritation. Ideally, it should be applied just before going to bed. Another important aspect when using the Odaban Antiperspirant Spray is that the skin must be "completely dry" at the time of application. There must be no residual moisture on the skin. To achieve this, the skin can be pretreated with a commercially available talcum powder, which can be obtained at any pharmacy. A hairdryer can also be used to remove residual moisture from the armpit, for example. The reason why the skin should be dry at the time of applying an antiperspirant is quite simple. The active ingredient in an antiperspirant is usually an aluminum compound, or a combination of various aluminum salts. When this active ingredient comes into contact with water or sweat, an unwanted byproduct called aluminum hydroxide is formed. This byproduct can cause skin irritation, resulting in slight burning and redness. To counteract these skin irritations, the carrier substance in Odaban antiperspirant is not water but high-percentage alcohol. Another advantage over water as a carrier is that the alcohol evaporates very quickly during spraying, leaving only a small percentage on the skin surface – thus the active ingredient "aluminum chloride" has no chance to react with water. Antiperspirant for Very Sensitive Skin For very sensitive skin, it is also recommended to spray the Odaban Antiperspirant onto a cotton or cosmetic pad and then dab the areas to be treated with this pad. Application to the head area should also always be done using a cotton or cosmetic pad. Never spray the spray directly into the face. Avoiding Application Mistakes The Odaban Antiperspirant Spray should not be used together with other products, such as a night cream. If a night cream is usually used, its application should be avoided during the first 2-3 days of using Odaban. After the antiperspirant has caused an initial regulation, which usually occurs after about 3-5 applications, it is sufficient to use the antiperspirant only as needed. On the days in between, a night cream can be used as usual. Another common mistake when using the spray is applying too much Odaban Antiperspirant Spray per application. One spray per armpit is completely sufficient. Product residues should be washed off normally in the morning after application.
Learn moreAntitranspirant / Antiperspirant or Deodorant?
How does an antiperspirant differ from a deodorant? Antitranspirant and antiperspirant basically mean the same thing. In English, the word antiperspirant is used for an antitranspirant. However, antitranspirants / antiperspirants fundamentally differ from deodorants in their effect and application. Antitranspirants / antiperspirants reduce the amount of sweat released by forming pore plugs or redirect sweat to skin areas where perspiration can occur more easily. Deodorants contain odor-inhibiting ingredients that mostly mask or absorb the sweat odor. Although deodorants also contain sweat-inhibiting ingredients, they are usually in such small amounts that the problem of underarm wetness is not reduced by a deodorant. Differences in application between antiperspirant and deodorant Antitranspirants / antiperspirants also differ greatly from deodorants in their application: While a deodorant is applied daily, usually after morning hygiene, antitranspirants / antiperspirants are applied less frequently. ODABAN spray is only applied in the evening before going to bed. After initial daily application, the use can quickly be reduced to only 1-2 times per week. This brings great independence and freedom, as you no longer have to think about applying a deodorant every day. These differences are noticeable both in effect and price. A deodorant usually costs only a few euros, whereas antitranspirants / antiperspirants are generally more expensive depending on size and quality. However, the higher price of an antiperspirant is noticeably offset by the fact that just 30 ml of antiperspirant can last for half a year with underarm application. A deodorant, on the other hand, usually lasts only a few weeks. This effectively saves money, reduces the hassle of repurchasing, and is better for the environment.
Learn moreEffect
Antiperspirant Effect About 1-2% of people in Germany suffer from excessive sweat production. Those affected usually sweat without a direct trigger, unpredictably, and more than necessary for regulating the body's temperature. The sweat outbreaks usually occur locally, such as in the armpits, on the soles of the feet, or in the intimate area, less often over the whole body. How Antiperspirants Work Against Excessive Sweating Sweat alone is almost odorless. The main cause of sweat odor is secretions from bacteria that live on the skin and break down the sweat there. Antiperspirants are used to constrict the sweat gland openings and therefore have an astringent function. Sweat production is interrupted and the skin remains dry. In addition, this process deprives the odor-causing bacteria of their food, thus reducing the production of unpleasant-smelling secretions. The Odaban effect is produced by the astringency, i.e., the "constricting" effect, of the active ingredient aluminum chloride. This binds overnight with the protein on the skin surface to form an insoluble and inactive complex that partially blocks the openings of the sweat ducts like a plug. The treated skin area can be washed the next morning without losing the Odaban protection, which remains effective for several days. The formed aluminum-protein complex is so insoluble that absolutely no absorption of aluminum into the body system occurs. Therefore, Odaban is completely safe even with long-term use. The effectiveness of the Odaban antiperspirant has been convincing for over 30 years. In addition to aluminum chloride in dissolved form, Odaban spray also contains skin-caring ingredients. This not only effectively regulates and reduces sweating but also prevents skin irritation. For this reason, Odaban is recommended by numerous German dermatology clinics and dermatologists worldwide. All products in the Odaban family are suitable for every skin type and particularly easy to apply. The antiperspirant effect of Odaban spray has also been tested and proven by a dermatological institute. In this study, 20 subjects, all suffering from excessive sweat production, treated one armpit with Odaban antiperspirant once daily in the evening for 3 days. The other armpit remained untreated during the test and served as a control. To increase sweat secretion, the subjects had to sit in a sauna and additionally drink linden blossom tea. After just three days of use, the subjects showed a reduction in sweat volume of up to 90%, with the average sweat reduction being about 71%. The excellent effect of the antiperspirant was thus immediately confirmed.
Learn moreApplication
Application of Odaban Antiperspirant Odaban Antiperspirant can be applied to the entire body. It must simply not come into contact with mucous membranes. It is important that Odaban Antiperspirant, regardless of the body area it is applied to, is always applied immediately before going to bed and on perfectly dry skin. Once an initial protection has been established, which usually occurs after three to five applications, Odaban Antiperspirant should only be used as needed (once or twice a week). Application of Odaban Antiperspirant on the Head You can also use Odaban Antiperspirant on the face. This is not a problem. Odaban should only not be used on irritated or inflamed skin. Odaban Antiperspirant was originally developed only for the underarm and foot areas. However, over time, various other areas of application have emerged. We have many customers who use Odaban very successfully on their face. Odaban should also only be applied in the evening when used on the face. Please never spray directly onto the face; always apply Odaban with the help of a cotton or cosmetic pad (1-2 sprays are sufficient). Please wash the treated skin areas normally the next morning. For facial application, usually once a week or as needed is sufficient. Please never treat the entire head with Odaban, but only individual affected skin areas, as sweat also has a cooling function. We recommend testing Odaban Antiperspirant on a small area first if you have sensitive skin before applying it more extensively. Application of Odaban Antiperspirant During Pregnancy or Breastfeeding Odaban Antiperspirant is a "cosmetic product." By law, cosmetic products must always be safe, including for expectant and nursing mothers. Odaban underwent several safety assessments before its market launch in Germany, all of which were positive. Therefore, you can use Odaban Antiperspirant without concern during pregnancy and breastfeeding. When Not to Use Odaban Antiperspirant An antiperspirant should not be used during the day. The simple reason is that sweating increases during the day. As a result, the active ingredient aluminum chloride reacts with water to form a byproduct, which can cause unpleasant skin irritation. Therefore, daytime use is not recommended. It is also not advisable to use an antiperspirant immediately after freshly shaving the underarms, as this causes very small injuries to the skin surface and can lead to skin irritation after applying an antiperspirant. What to Avoid When Using Odaban Antiperspirant A very important aspect when using Odaban Antiperspirant is that the skin must be absolutely dry at the time of application. There must be no residual moisture in the underarm. If there is still residual moisture in the underarm, the product’s effect cannot fully develop, and residual moisture can cause skin irritation, itching, or burning. Many first-time users of Odaban Antiperspirant often have the problem that they still sweat a little in the evening, meaning some residual moisture is almost unavoidable. We recommend applying Odaban Antiperspirant immediately before going to bed and drying the underarms beforehand with a little talcum powder or a hairdryer. This ensures no residual moisture remains in the underarms. Another common mistake is applying too much Odaban Antiperspirant per application. One spray per underarm is completely sufficient. For sensitive skin, we always recommend applying it with a cotton or cosmetic pad. Please wash off any product residue normally the next morning. After an "initial protection" has been established, Odaban Antiperspirant should only be used once or twice a week. Additionally, Odaban Antiperspirant should not be used too frequently, as the spray will not achieve the desired effect. The reason is that with too frequent use, the sweat gland openings become completely "blocked." The sweat that accumulates behind this blockage will eventually break through it. Consequently, increased sweating will occur again. If this does happen, Odaban Antiperspirant should not be used for about two to three weeks. After this application-free interval, the effect will be as it was at the beginning of use. Thus, Odaban remains a very effective, safe product for a long time.
Learn moreAntiperspirant
What is an Antiperspirant? An antiperspirant (also known by the English term antiperspirant) inhibits sweat production. Antiperspirants have been used against excessive sweating for over 100 years. Their advantage over other measures lies in their purely superficial mode of action. Aluminum chloride, the active ingredient in Odaban antiperspirant, narrows the openings of the sweat glands in the skin. As a result, less sweat is secreted, keeping skin and clothing dry. The insolubility of the aluminum complex prevents absorption into the deeper layers of the skin, so the treatment is actually limited to the outermost skin layer. The effectiveness of aluminum chloride as an antiperspirant was already demonstrated in 1972 by an experimental study conducted by skin specialist Prof. Dr. Hagen Tronnier and his colleague Rentschler. They showed that the number of active eccrine sweat glands decreased on average by 70% and sweating by 64%. How an Antiperspirant Works When applied to the skin, aluminum chloride causes the skin cells to contract (astringency). This narrows the openings of the sweat glands. Aluminum chloride consequently forms a complex that can be imagined as a small plug made of sweat, sebum, and skin flakes. This complex seals the openings of the sweat glands so that no sweat can reach the skin surface. After a few days, the astringency is lifted and the effect of the antiperspirant diminishes. No Sweat - No Odor When sweat comes into contact with specific microorganisms that are part of the natural skin flora, body odor is produced. Corynebacteria (especially in men) and micrococci (especially in women) break down the sweat. This process produces unpleasant-smelling substances perceived as sour to pungent. However, if sweat is not secreted at all, it does not produce odors. As an antiperspirant, Odaban promotes a natural, pleasant skin scent.
Learn moreWhy Do We Sweat?
Every person strives to develop themselves and to significantly improve their individual quality of life. Excessive sweating is more than just an annoying problem in this regard, as it often severely restricts personal freedom. People who suffer from this issue often withdraw because no one likes to endure the pitying looks of others. Home remedies like sage tea or alternating baths usually only show short-term or even no effect at all. Causes of Sweating Sweat production is basically a natural protective function of the body that is meant to prevent overheating of the organism. Another cause of the sometimes intense activity of the sweat glands can be stressful situations. The so-called cold sweat runs down your back. This is a reflex that occurs in special stress situations. A chemical process in the body is responsible for us sweating particularly heavily in these situations. Blood sugar rises, cortisol is released, which leads to an adrenaline rush. This reflex was often vital in the Stone Age because it sharpens the senses, releases energy, and causes us to start sweating. Stone Age humans could thus escape the impending danger. Today, the reflex is rather annoying. The high adrenaline level in the blood causes the skin to be less supplied with blood and to cool down. Sweat can only poorly evaporate on cool skin, which is why it is also called cold sweat. We cannot suppress the reflex, but we can contain the negative symptoms. Some people tend to carry the stress of the day into their sleep and therefore suffer particularly from sweating outbreaks at night. The cause is often the stress of the day, which is broken down during sleep. It becomes very unpleasant when you wake up in the middle of the night and find yourself in sweat-soaked sheets. Restless sleep stresses the body additionally, and it can also become a real problem for the partner.People who suffer from excessive sweat production are often caught in a vicious circle. The stress factor they are exposed to rises immeasurably because the fear of sweating triggers stress again, which in turn leads to sweating outbreaks. Relaxation techniques and meditation only help to a limited extent. To escape this vicious circle, a reliable and fast-acting remedy against sweating is necessary. Furthermore, there are also life phases in which it is quite normal to sweat more. The menopause in women is just one example. In this phase, which is part of every woman's life, the hormonal change in the body causes sometimes excessive sweat production. So-called hot flashes are the result. The sweating outbreaks cannot be controlled and therefore often lead to very unpleasant situations, especially the face is often affected. Most women are relieved after the body's adjustment phase, and the sweat glands return to their normal activity. Nevertheless, there are also some women for whom this unfortunately does not apply. Sweat production does not completely reduce again. To lead a carefree, active life and maintain youthful quality of life, an effective remedy against sweating is advisable.
