It is also not advisable to apply an antiperspirant immediately after a fresh underarm shave, as this causes very small injuries to the skin surface and can lead to skin irritation after applying an antiperspirant.

A very important aspect when using odaban antiperspirant is that the skin must be completely dry at the time of application. There must be no residual moisture left in the armpit. If there is still residual moisture in the armpit, the product’s effectiveness cannot fully develop, and the residual moisture can cause skin irritation or itching or burning. Many users who use odaban antiperspirant for the first time often have the problem that they still sweat a little in the evening, meaning that some residual moisture is hardly avoidable. We recommend applying odaban antiperspirant immediately before going to bed and drying the armpits beforehand with a little talcum powder or a hairdryer. This ensures that no residual moisture remains in the armpits. Another common mistake during application is using too much odaban antiperspirant at once. One spray per armpit is completely sufficient. For sensitive skin, we always recommend applying it with a cotton or cosmetic pad. Please wash off product residues normally the next morning.
After an initial “protection” has been established, odaban antiperspirant should only be used once or twice a week. Also, odaban antiperspirant should not be used too frequently, as the spray will not achieve the desired effect if overused. The reason is that with too frequent use, the sweat gland openings become completely "blocked." The sweat that accumulates behind the blockage will eventually break through it. Consequently, increased sweating will occur again.
If this does happen, odaban antiperspirant should not be used for about two to three weeks. After this application-free interval, the effect will be as it was at the beginning of use.

This article explains why and how to do it correctly. The Physiological Reason: The Body Sweats Less at Night The activity of eccrine sweat glands follows a circadian rhythm. Sweat production is significantly reduced during the evening and night hours – even in people with hyperhidrosis. This has two crucial advantages for antiperspirant use: The active ingredient is not immediately washed away. Aluminum chloride needs contact time with the sweat gland pores to penetrate and form the sweat-blocking barrier. If you apply it in the morning and start sweating, the active ingredient is diluted by sweat and pushed out of the gland ducts before it can take effect. Longer, undisturbed exposure time. When the antiperspirant is applied in the evening, the active ingredient has 6–8 hours to penetrate the pores without competition from sweat.
