Show your feet, show your shoe

Tip 1: The right shoe material matters Sweaty feet are an unpleasant issue, no matter the weather. It’s not just the sweating itself that is uncomfortable, but also the well-known "cheesy foot odor." A nightmare for both women and men. On hot days, it is essential to choose breathable shoe materials to effectively prevent sweating. Breathable material ensures good air circulation and can transport enough fresh air into the shoe. This creates a cooling effect that can help prevent unnecessary sweating and annoying odors. Tip 2: Less sweating thanks to effective antiperspirants It may be that breathable materials alone do not prevent foot sweating in the height of summer. But even at lower temperatures, some people sweat heavily on their feet. In both cases, there is no need to panic. There is help available. If the feet keep sweating despite appropriate footwear, it is advisable to try an antiperspirant. This causes the sweat pores on the feet to narrow, resulting in less sweat being released. But an antiperspirant for the feet? For many people, this may sound strange because they usually associate heavy sweating and antiperspirants with the underarm area. Nevertheless, there are antiperspirants that can be used on the entire body, including for heavy sweating on the feet. And this makes perfect sense when you consider how many sweat glands humans have on their feet. So, if you want to make sure your feet stay mostly dry even in the height of summer, you should simply try an antiperspirant. Tip 3: A powder for feet and shoes Yes, that exists too. Used in addition to an antiperspirant or on its own, foot and shoe powder creates a germ-free environment inside the shoe. Although the powder itself does not reduce foot sweating, its antibacterial, germ-reducing effect ensures a neutral foot and shoe odor. This makes it the perfect product for anyone tired of smelly feet and shoes. It is important to always treat the shoes as well when dealing with sweaty feet and unpleasant foot odor! Because when we sweat on our feet, the sweat inevitably soaks into the shoe’s fabric. Only when bacteria break down the fresh sweat does the so-called cheesy odor develop. So, treating only the feet is not enough. If you only treat your feet and then slip back into your favorite shoes, you won’t get rid of the cheesy odor problem because the bacteria responsible for the unpleasant smell are still inside the shoe. That’s why it’s important to use an antibacterial shoe powder. Conclusion: Sweaty feet are an unpleasant issue. But with the right care, powder, or antiperspirant, it can be effectively countered. Then you can finally stroll relaxed through the city, sit in your favorite café, or walk barefoot through the park without worry.

Die Odaban Geschichte - odaban®

The Odaban Story

The story of ODABAN began almost forty years ago when I, as a young pharmacist, helped an operating room nurse with a serious sweating problem. After six months of research and work together, I finally developed a solution that completely solved her sweating issue. This development of ODABAN was eventually recognized as a milestone in the fight against sweating problems in the United Kingdom. Remarkably, the original name ODABAN spread worldwide by word of mouth from this initial consultation and has become a well-known name for many people struggling with excessive sweating. Then dermatologists, podiatrists, general practitioners, and pharmacists also joined this enthusiasm and have long since accepted ODABAN as the preferred remedy. The journey from sweating problem to innovative product It has been a great pleasure and a privilege to have helped so many people, and I am extremely grateful for the support and valuable customer feedback I have received over the years. But now it is time for me to step back. ODABAN has always been a family business, offering all the flexibility and personalized service that this business requires. I am happy and proud to announce to my readers that this will continue to be the case, as my son Daniel and his business partners have now taken over the business and will continue it as usual. My very best wishes and thanks go to all our customers,Jeff Bracey

Excessive sweating during menopause

Hot flashes, heavy sweating, and sweat outbreaks are among the most common accompanying symptoms of menopause. In particular, the sudden onset of sweating episodes is experienced by affected women as extremely unpleasant and stressful. Some women not only feel a reduced quality of life during this time but also experience enormous psychological distress. What many do not know: In addition to the well-known hormone replacement therapies, cosmetic products such as the use of an antiperspirant often help. Menopause and sweating – What is behind it? How is it that many women sweat more during their menopause? In most cases, the cause is a disturbed heat regulation that accompanies the hormonal changes in the body. Hot flashes and sweating episodes are therefore initially nothing unusual. However, the exact connections are still unclear today. Scientists assume that one of the main reasons for increased sweating during menopause is the declining estrogen level: Accordingly, the low estrogen concentration in the blood is decisive for the misregulation of central thermoregulation.   Heavy sweating and spontaneous sweat outbreaks are therefore not necessarily a sign of a permanent illness. On the contrary: Hot flashes and sweating episodes often occur more frequently at the beginning of menopause and disappear again after one to two years on their own. It is therefore a temporary phenomenon that has nothing to do with a disease-related overactivity of the sweat glands. What you can do about heavy sweating and sweat outbreaks: If hot flashes and sweating severely affect quality of life or negatively impact psychological well-being, a visit to the gynecologist is always advisable. For hormonally induced sweating, herbal preparations or physical therapy methods such as alternating warm foot baths or acupuncture can alleviate the symptoms. Taking artificial hormones can also help. These so-called hormone replacement therapies are medically controversial because they are associated with considerable health risks. Therefore, a decision should always be made only after careful consideration and in consultation with a doctor. What most women do not know: Cosmetic products often also achieve a high effect. Particularly promising is the use of an antiperspirant. It helps reduce sweating to a normal level – without artificially supplied hormones and time-consuming visits to the acupuncture practice. Due to its quick and easy application, those affected can continue their daily routine normally and experience no additional restriction of their personal freedom. Thus, the antiperspirant can be considered a guarantee for improved quality of life in two ways. A healthy lifestyle can support the effect Besides the hormonal changes during menopause, other factors can also promote increased sweating. Stress, overweight, and lack of exercise are the usual suspects in this context. In addition, coffee, alcohol, as well as heavily spiced or hard-to-digest foods can increase sweating. To effectively counter the annoying sweat outbreaks and sustainably reduce sweating, be sure to get enough exercise and maintain a balanced diet.

Sweating despite the cold

There are quite a few people who start sweating quickly even at subzero temperatures. You would actually be happy that the summer temperatures ease off a bit and you no longer have to pay as much attention to the issue of "your own sweat" as you did at a summery 25 degrees Celsius, yet the sweating continues unabated. A vicious circle that is sometimes difficult to break. Sweating is influenced by various factors. Thermoregulation through sweating kicks in whenever the body needs cooling to protect itself from overheating. The so-called evaporative heat generated by sweating provides the body with the necessary body temperature, and the cooling effect begins. With a few simple tricks, you can still significantly reduce sweating in winter. What to do if you sweat excessively despite the cold season As soon as you step outside through the front door or apartment door, it can be icy cold. Nevertheless, it is quite possible that the body starts sweating very quickly despite the low temperatures. Those affected sweat heavily and independently of natural causes such as warmth, stress, or physical exertion. Sweating in winter or in the cold is basically nothing unusual and in very few cases is caused by illness. Often it is simply due to unsuitable clothing that we prefer to wear in winter. Ideally, it should be warm and wind- and waterproof. The problem with choosing clothing in the colder season, however, is that it can also cause heat buildup. The body is then only poorly able to evaporate heat as usual. With non-breathable winter clothing, the body feels overheated even in supposedly protected areas despite the cold outside temperatures, so cooling through sweating is stimulated. What you can do in winter to counteract sweating is outlined below: Basically, you should pay attention to, removing your winter clothing as quickly as possible when you come back inside from the cold so that the body can adjust to the temperature difference as quickly as possible. Therefore, you should ensure adequate ventilation quickly. Furthermore, it is advisable to make sure that clothing for the cold season is made of textiles that are also breathable if possible. The skin can then breathe optimally and moisture is quickly transported away from the skin, allowing optimal regulation of body temperature. For particularly low temperatures, garments made of wool are suitable, for example. Alcohol and nicotine are not only harmful to health, they also stimulate the body and thus contribute to sweating more quickly. Therefore, consumption should be kept to a minimum. A healthy diet can also help counteract or even prevent unpleasant sweating episodes. This applies not only to the summer months. Those who generally sweat quickly should avoid spicy and/or heavily seasoned food as much as possible. Light fare such as fruits and vegetables is recommended instead. Another proven remedy against excessive sweating for many people, combined with a healthy diet, is losing weight. Overweight almost always demands significantly higher energy reserves from the body than is the case, for example, with people of "normal weight." So if you have too much weight, you should try to bring it back to a normal range. Then the annoying sweat attacks will also decrease. It is also very important to drink enough fluids – ideally at least 2 liters per day. You do not sweat more or faster because you drink more; the opposite is actually true. Of course, when choosing drinks, you should make sure not to consume only sugary water. Mineral water and fruit juices without sugar are ideal. An antiperspirant like Odaban Spray also works very well and very quickly. Usually, sweat flow is effectively regulated after one to three applications and it is not without reason that many dermatologists worldwide recommend it as a remedy against excessive sweating. Sauna visits also help your body get used to higher temperatures and thus better control the activity of the sweat glands. The sudden temperature fluctuations strongly stimulate and challenge the body's heat regulation. At the same time, regular sauna sessions make a very important contribution to strengthening the immune system and have a positive effect on other illnesses or everyday complaints.

Sweat-inducing spring feelings? No, thank you!

It is the same phenomenon every year. The first rays of sunshine appear, temperatures rise, and slowly but surely life returns to the landscape. But while some rejoice at the long-awaited arrival of spring, for others an unrelenting period of discomfort begins. Because with rising temperatures, they primarily associate one thing: heavy sweating, annoying sweat stains under the arms, and the ever-present fear of strange looks from those around them. No sign of the often-mentioned spring feelings! But what to do? Rising temperatures make the cash registers ring Those who do not want to be surprised by unpleasant sweat stains take precautions and stock up on plenty of deodorants even before spring begins. And indeed, sales figures show: as soon as spring knocks on the door, the demand for deodorants and antiperspirants also rises. This is more than understandable given the taboo topic of sweating, because heavy sweating can actually become a real mood killer – not only on a first date but also at a nice barbecue evening with friends. Both conventional deodorants and antiperspirants are particularly popular among remedies against heavy sweating. The decisive factor when choosing a product is always the intensity of perspiration, because only an antiperspirant can actually regulate sweat production. So anyone who finally wants to fight annoying sweating should definitely use an antiperspirant. Finally enjoy the sunshine again Used once or twice a week, the antiperspirant helps reduce sweat production and ensures that annoying sweat stains do not even form. That makes spring much more fun! Without the constant fear of sweating, it is much more relaxing to sit in the sun, and you can finally enjoy the first rays of sunshine to the fullest again. Those affected by heavy sweating know how profound the consequences can be in everyday life and leisure activities. They prefer to stay in the cool home, turn on the TV, or read a good book rather than take a walk through the fields or enjoy the first ice cream. And that already at the first rays of sunshine. While others only look for a pleasantly shady spot in midsummer, they avoid the sun out of fear of possible sweating already at the beginning of the year. It is clear that this can really spoil the mood in the long run. Often, those affected also struggle with psychological problems and withdraw from their social environment. They miss the time outdoors, contact with other people, and feel increasingly restricted in their daily lives. While some actively search for a solution to their sweating problem for this very reason, the majority of those affected only realize afterward how much sweating has actually impaired their private and professional lives. They only notice much later how much joy of life they have lost due to the constant fear of sweating. But they all have one thing in common: the knowledge that they have finally got sweating under control and defeated the fear of sweat stains allows them to enjoy every spring twice as much.

Effect

Antiperspirant Effect About 1-2% of people in Germany suffer from excessive sweat production. Those affected usually sweat without a direct trigger, unpredictably, and more than necessary for regulating the body's temperature. The sweat outbreaks usually occur locally, such as in the armpits, on the soles of the feet, or in the intimate area, less often over the whole body. How Antiperspirants Work Against Excessive Sweating Sweat alone is almost odorless. The main cause of sweat odor is secretions from bacteria that live on the skin and break down the sweat there. Antiperspirants are used to constrict the sweat gland openings and therefore have an astringent function. Sweat production is interrupted and the skin remains dry. In addition, this process deprives the odor-causing bacteria of their food, thus reducing the production of unpleasant-smelling secretions. The Odaban effect is produced by the astringency, i.e., the "constricting" effect, of the active ingredient aluminum chloride. This binds overnight with the protein on the skin surface to form an insoluble and inactive complex that partially blocks the openings of the sweat ducts like a plug. The treated skin area can be washed the next morning without losing the Odaban protection, which remains effective for several days. The formed aluminum-protein complex is so insoluble that absolutely no absorption of aluminum into the body system occurs. Therefore, Odaban is completely safe even with long-term use. The effectiveness of the Odaban antiperspirant has been convincing for over 30 years. In addition to aluminum chloride in dissolved form, Odaban spray also contains skin-caring ingredients. This not only effectively regulates and reduces sweating but also prevents skin irritation. For this reason, Odaban is recommended by numerous German dermatology clinics and dermatologists worldwide. All products in the Odaban family are suitable for every skin type and particularly easy to apply. The antiperspirant effect of Odaban spray has also been tested and proven by a dermatological institute. In this study, 20 subjects, all suffering from excessive sweat production, treated one armpit with Odaban antiperspirant once daily in the evening for 3 days. The other armpit remained untreated during the test and served as a control. To increase sweat secretion, the subjects had to sit in a sauna and additionally drink linden blossom tea. After just three days of use, the subjects showed a reduction in sweat volume of up to 90%, with the average sweat reduction being about 71%. The excellent effect of the antiperspirant was thus immediately confirmed.
